Expungement and Driver License Appeals

A criminal record and/or the loss of a driver’s license can significantly impact the quality of your life.  The State of Michigan recently enacted sweeping changes regarding expungement and it is now possible to have  multiple felony and misdemeanor convictions removed from your criminal record as well as a first time drinking and driving conviction.

Expungement is an application to set aside a criminal conviction.  If the application is granted by the court, the conviction is removed from the applicant’s criminal history and the individual is no longer considered to have been convicted of a crime.  This will allow a person to honestly answer on any application that they have not been convicted of a crime.  To apply to have a conviction set aside, several requirements must be met, and forms filed with the court.  Also, the setting aside of a conviction is a privilege not a right, so you will have to convince the judge that your application should be granted. For a flat fee, Bruza Law can represent you during this process to help improve the likelihood that all eligible convictions are set aside.
